Events
World AIDS Day is one of the most globally recognised events of the year. World AIDS Day is celebrated across Australia to:
-
Encourage the community to talk about HIV/AIDS
-
Raise community awareness
-
Break down barriers
-
Educate our community
There are many ways you can support this global effort. Get involved this World AIDS Day by supporting one or all of the following activities.
Host a Red Dinner
Some dinner tables don't see any action. It's sad, but true. So for this year's World AIDS Day, it's time for yours to get laid. And all for a good cause with help from the Queensland World AIDS Day Alliance.
Simply gather a bunch of your nearest and dearest and host a RED themed dinner party!

List of those lost - Brisbane and Carins
Remember a love one lost to the HIV/AIDS epidemic
We will be reading a list names of those who have been lost to the epidemic at both the Brisbane and Cairns World AIDS Day Vigils.
If you would like to have ensure your loved ones name included in those announced for remembrance, we welcome you to submit their name (first name, first name and initial, nickname, or full name) to us to be included in this moving part of the vigils. Please email wad@qpp.org.au and indicate which vigil you would prefer their memory to be observed at.
The list of names has been featured in the Cairns vigil for many years, and restarting in 2021, the Brisbane vigil now also holds this special reading. We encourage all to have their lost loved ones name mentioned and honoured.

We are currently confirming iconic landmarks around Queensland to turn RED for World AIDS Day for 2024. If you know of a iconic building or structure in your area that could turn RED for World AIDS Day, send us the details to wad@qpp.org.au

Look fabulous
Snap a Selfie
Whatever you decide to do on World AIDS Day, we all like to look good. So why not pick out a red number out of your closet, and make advocacy a part of your wardobe. You could even frock up in red for your dinner party. Either way, when someone comments on how fabulous you look you'll have an opportunity to tell them all about World AIDS Day and what you're doing to support it.
Snap a selfie and share using the #qldworldaidsday hashtag.
